The Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is an occupational qualification for learners who work within Care settings. The qualification is for workers who have key responsibilities for delivery of care and support and /or a level of supervision.

This can be credited towards an access to nursing course in most universities.
This qualification provides an excellent platform for those learners who are working in care settings or working in service users own homes. The Level 3 is a possible progression route for learners moving into supervisory or management roles.

Therefore this qualification would suit the following groups of people:

  • Lead Adult Care Worker
  • Lead Personal Assistant
  • Key Worker
  • Domiciliary Care Worker
  • Senior Care Assistant
  • Support Worker

This qualification may also suit personal assistants for individuals, or the families of those individuals who employ them directly under management supervision.

Qualification achievement
To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care learners must achieve a minimum of 58 credits.

28 credits must be taken from the mandatory group A.

The rest of the credits will be achieved through choosing relevant units from the other groups B-C depending on the care sector you work in eg Disability, Residential or domiciliary setting.

Assessment
You will build up a portfolio of evidence. This will be in the form of written statements or ‘Reflective Accounts’ along with supporting work products that you have produced.

An assessor will visit you in the workplace at some point and undertake observations of you at work. These will be planned in advance in order to cause minimum disruption to your work routine and to try to capture as much information as possible in one visit.

You may also supply witness testimonies or statements from third parties with whom you work. This may include supervisors or a line manager or other suitably qualified individuals. They need to understand your job role and the standards you have to meet in order to obtain this level of qualification.

Duration
On average, most learners will complete in 6 months. Some learners may take less depending on their personal circumstances and how much time they have to dedicate to the course. We will work at a pace that suits you. You will have full uncapped support for 12 months.

Progression
On successful completion of this award you may progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) and other short courses in the social care sector (Subject to support by management or in a management role)

Entry Requirements
You must be in employment in a care setting. This can be full, part-time or in a voluntary capacity.

The level 3 Diploma is not approved for those who are under the age of 18.
